MARCASITE + PYRITE:
The Ancient Greeks made jewellery from marcasite. The Incas of South America polished large slabs of it as decorative objects. Marcasite is named for the Medieval Latin term "marcasita," a derivative of the Arabic word "markaschatsa," meaning "fire stone." Marcasite is said to be a gemstone used for powerful meditation. Marcasite gems aid in introspection and tend to resonate more strongly with higher, more spiritual chakras. According to many beliefs, marcasite is a talisman associated with wisdom, courage and expression.
Pyrite is widely known because of its nickname of fool's gold. The mineral's gold color, metallic luster, and high specific gravity often cause it to be mistaken for gold by inexperienced prospectors. Pyrite is a powerful protection stone which shields and protects against all forms of negative vibrations and/or energy, working on the physical, etheric, and emotional levels. Pyrite can actually spark when struck with iron or flint. Pyrite is known as a stone of luck, helping to attract abundance, wealth and prosperity to the user. It opens the door to opportunity and gives you the confidence and encouragement to grasp what is on the other side.
Pyrite and marcasite have the same chemical composition, but different structures. Pyrite is a ubiquitous mineral, Marcasite is much less common. Both Marcasite and Pyrite can actually spark when struck with iron or flint.
CALCITE:
The Calcite crystal stone meaning can be traced back to ancient Greece, where it came from the Latin word calc, meaning 'lime.' Its powers of absorption soak up toxic emotions and negativity in your environment.
