A large statement piece. Ceramic vintage phrenology head with fantastic detail. An oddity to complete every aspiring medico's desk. A ceramic phrenology head L.N Fowler Ludgate Circus London, Phrenology by L.N Fowler, entrance to Stationers Hall, the back with an inscription by Fowler.

Phrenology is the study of the human skull. It is based on the concept that the brain is the organ of the mind, and that certain brain areas have specific functions. An American leading phrenologist of his time, L.N. Fowler, gained considerable fame with his phrenology head, which has become a symbol of the discipline.

This original bust is made from ceramic and hand-painted. It is vintage but a reproduction of an 1800s antique museum quality piece worth thousands. It has aged with a crackle in the glazing.
